MamerSass Reinvented Fashions (may-mer-sass) is an eco-street wear brand that rescues and reinvents unwanted textiles and vintage clothing.
Owners, Mamer (Jamey) and Derek started MamerSass in an effort to to combat textile waste. Their love for fashion is only rivaled by their love for the earth and their desire to give back, using fashion for good. That why they create one-of-a-kind apparel and accessories that DO NOT contribute to the environmental waste in fashion.
Jamey graduated from Radford University with a BS in Fashion Design. After graduation she worked in the fashion industry in New York City where she saw first-hand the extreme waste and harsh environmental impact. Unhappy with the mass market, hands-off approach to design, she started working on a business plan where she could use her passion for thrifting and upcycling.
Derek handles the business side, he has in sales for years at leading automotive companies where he was top in his field. In his spare time, Derek was always coming up with new innovative product ideas for his clothing line he hoped to start one day.
Jamey and Derek fell in love and joined forces, combining their talents and passions.
The brand started back in 2012 but it wasn't until 2014 that they opened their first store on Chincoteague Island in 2014.
In 2016, they added a Mobile Shop to their business, converting a 15-passenger shuttle bus into a shop on wheels. They have traveled the East Coast participating in street fairs, music festivals like Firefly Music Fest as well as college campuses preaching the "gospel" of textile recycling and bringing their reinvented fashions and vintage clothing to masses.
In 2018, Mamer and Derek became Richmond City street vendors where they would pop-up in various locations around RVA.
In 2019, they partnered with Workshop RVA and opened a store front on W. Broad Street in downtown Richmond, VA.
